Music and I
Welcome to my blog! My name is Taylor. I am currently a college student attending the University of Alaska at Fairbanks but am taking classes completely online from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
When it comes to music, I tend to listen to music almost constantly. There is always some sort of tune or song stuck in my head from the time my eyes open in the mornings until I fall asleep at night. Music fills my days and also helps me tune out my kids when I am overstimulated and stressed. There is something about the feelings I get when I listen to music that can make the stresses of the day just melt away.
If I'm cooking dinner, I usually have headphones on playing all of my favorite jams. While I am riding in the car, I have music playing. Funnily, when I purchased my current car, the radio didn't work. The first thing I bought for it, was a new radio because there was no way I could drive around with no music!
Growing up, I used to attend concerts all the time. I think I went to at least two concerts every summer. Recently, I haven't been able to do this mainly because of financial and childcare issues.
I have always wanted to play some sort of instrument, but I was never really given the opportunity however, I hope to instill music in my children and hope they have the drive to play an instrument in a couple years. The song that I am sharing today is my kids' favorite song right now and I love the switch of genres from this particular artist.

ReplyDeleteNo radio!! I agree - gotta have a radio. I never heard of mgk before. I must be living under a rock. 9M subscribers.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a unique experience living in Baton Rouge, louisiana a place with such rich muscial significance and history, I can imagine why music is so important to you.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about how music can really influence your moods throughout your day. I could be listening to heavy metal to hype myself up for a workout or in the same day be curled up sobbing to a sad song
ReplyDeleteI hope my son plays an instrument in the future too! I totally wish I had stuck with one myself, but theres always hope for the next generation!
ReplyDeleteI used to play a few instruments in band class, and also the piano during my free time at home. It's been a while since I've last played any instrument, but I think it would be cool to get back to the piano someday
ReplyDeleteTotally agree that music has the ability to take you away. Interestingly, it also has the ability to center you in the moment as well. The bit about you replacing the radio immediately made me laugh; it's totally something I would do as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Taylor, I totally relate to needing music on basically all day, especially when life gets overstimulating. The part about immediately buying a new radio made me laugh because that would 100% be me too. I’m excited to hear the song your kids are obsessed with right now, those “family favorite” songs always stick in your head forever.
